Words from our partners

Youth doing ladders in outdoor setting while cheered on“NAC has been vital in giving The Austin Foundation positive guidance, vital information and support as we continue to rebuild after the untimely passing of our founder, Willie Austin. The generosity, warmth and caring that NAC shows to their cohort participants is truly amazing and it always feels like home when they open their doors to us. Thank you NAC for all you’ve done and all you continue to do for grassroots organizations like ours, and so many others that you’ve touched around the Pacific Northwest.”

“NAC is one of the first organizations I volunteered with when I moved to Seattle in 2002. I have known NAC to be a place to go to for resources. When I had the idea of starting a nonprofit organization to serve all Africans, I attended one of NAC’s trainings in starting a nonprofit organization… Since then, I personally benefited from all the resources and technical assistance they continue to offer to organizations lead by and for communities of color, and refugees and immigrants.”
-Risho Sapano, Mother Africa

“NAC opened up, created, and provided space for our group to develop our program into a nonprofit organization. NAC provides technical support, one on one coaching, and cohort gatherings for training of common struggles with other organizations. I absolutely love the work that this team stands for. Amazing work and amazing team.”
-Karen Lauth Elliott, Seattle Native Youth Program

Front webpage of South Seattle Emerald site“As a new organization, under-funded and under-resourced in both our knowledge and connections, NAC has been a godsend for South Seattle Emerald. Before joining the cohort I often felt lost and confused trying to navigate the opaque and complex non-profit world. Since working with NAC, I have the confidence I need as Executive Director to help our organization grow into a sustainable organization with lasting impact for our community.”

Youth playing a game in a classroom setting“SPIN is growing so fast, and our work with the Nonprofit Assistance Center is instrumental in helping us move forward with purpose. By participating in the cohort we have been able to network and connect with other organizations, and learn from their expertise. The NAC team has been awesome at helping us develop criteria and expectations for our board. We have also had the opportunity to utilize some great services through NAC; such as the legal check-up and attending the Washington State Nonprofit Conference.”
-Katherine Barr, STEMPaths Innovation Network

Youth holding microphone with arms in the air“NAC has meant so much to our organization. We’ve learned an incredible amount regarding nonprofits and how best to continue working with our community. We’ve learned practical skills about board development and fundraising, but equally important is the tremendous people we’ve met in the cohort.”

“NAC gives Young Urban Authors the ability to go from a passion centered program to a purpose driven organization. The resources and knowledge that they have access to allows us to focus on our goals and expand. I really appreciate the Nonprofit Assistance Center under the leadership of Sarah Tran, she has a heart for the people. Her staff without conviction support her vision as a leader and that is what makes this organization an amazing community partner. Thanks NAC for all your work.”

“As with all small nonprofits, it’s crucial to have support in the areas of how to grow successfully. We greatly appreciated our coaching experience and support with Aileen Balahadia. What a great asset to your team! Thanks NAC!”

“Being a part of NAC’s cohort has helped our grassroots coalition build tactful capacity-building strategies, many of which we were able to apply immediately to our programs that we run, including our bi-annual education summit. We also feel better equipped as an organization transitioning into a 501©(3) thanks to NAC’s coaching and trainings which has provided us tools for capacity building and templates to help our formalization process”

“Participating in NAC for the past two cycles has been a game changer for our organization. We are a small, community-based, youth centered organization that engages low-income youth of color – especially girls – in South Seattle in intensive social justice work and community building through the sport of Ultimate Frisbee. With NAC’s support we have strengthened our organizational infrastructure, increased our fundraising income, grown our donor-base, and reached the major milestone of hiring our first employees. Everyone wants organizations to build capacity, but NAC is actually putting in the work to help get people there. And it is work. It’s hard. The resources and knowledge we’ve gained through the cohort, through coaching, through technical support, and through NAC’s trainings – have truly been invaluable. While we want other organizations to have the opportunity to benefit from the cohort program if there’s a way to participate in the cohort again we would love to. NAC for life!”

“The settings were perfect. The one-on-one helped us learn and get assistance from the experts, and the group setting made us learn from the cohort, and grow our network.”

“NAC has been a strong support of our grass-root organization since last year. Thanks to your guidance and mentoring, we were able to accomplished many goals. 2016 has been a year where we jumped to the political arena advocating for more funds to support our local families. We also offer a retreat to connect board members and local leaders, we supported our staff in implementing amazing projects, such as Feminine Basketball Tournament and the Citizenship and voting engagement activities. We are thrilled to have partners like you that made us feel as family sharing same values and vision.”

“Working with NAC this year through the Capacity Building Cohort allowed us visualize, state and plan for our organizational goals, namely Board Recruitment. The guidance, tools and framework were invaluable, in addition to their greatest strengths being the Coaching sessions that allowed us the one on one time to stay on track with our inability to be ever present for trainings and workshops! Thank you NAC, we would do it again!”

All of the workshops, meetings and coaching provided us with vital information needed to strengthen our infrastructure. We are forever grateful for all of the wonderful and knowledgeable staff at NAC who empowered us to continue serving our community.”
